There are various ideas about Hıdrellez‘s history. Some assumes that Hıdrellez belongs to Mesopotamian and Anatolian culture while others think that it belongs to Middle Asian Turkic culture and believes before Islamic period. Similar celebrations are seen in Mesopotamia, Anatolia, Persia, Balkans and even all East Mediterranean countries which are related to the arrival of spring. A strong belief most of people have suggests that Hızır had gained immortality by drinking the water of life (Ab-ı Hayat). He is always on the earth, especially in the spring, and helps people. Hızır is a symbol of wander and luck as well.
